GAMBLE ROGERS FOLK FESTIVAL 2024 HEADLINERS
AJ LEE & BLUE SUMMIT
AJ Lee & Blue Summit is a bluegrass band from the Bay Area that draws influences from country, soul, swing, rock, and jam music. Led by singer-songwriter and mandolinist, AJ Lee, the band includes Sullivan Tuttle and Scott Gates on steel stringed acoustic guitars, Jan Purat on fiddle, and Chad Bowen on upright bass.
THE JOHN JORGENSON QUINTET
The John Jorgenson Quintet creates a unique musical experience that equally enthralls the most discerning and the casual music fan. The ensemble was originally formed in 2004 for the release of “Franco-American Swing.” The group’s style has been called “Gypsy Jazz” after the dynamic string-driven swing created by Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli in 1930s Paris, but Jorgenson’s compositions draw in elements from Latin, Romanian, classical, rock, and Greek music, so “21st Century World Music” is perhaps a more apt description.
VERLON THOMPSON
Verlon Thompson has spent thirty years as a professional songwriter and traveling troubadour. As a solo performer, and as the trusted sidekick of Texas Americana songwriting icon Guy Clark, Verlon has viewed the world from stages everywhere from Barcelona to Binger (his hometown in Oklahoma).
JERRON PAXTON
Jerron Paxton has earned a reputation for transporting audiences back to the 1920's and making them wish they could stay there for good. This young musician sings and plays banjo, guitar, piano, fiddle, harmonica, Cajun accordion, and the bones (percussion). Paxton has an eerie ability to transform traditional jazz, blues, folk, and country into the here and now, and make it real. In addition, he mesmerizes audiences with his humor and storytelling.
REMEDY TREE
Remedy Tree, founded by Gabriel Acevedo and his wife, Abigail, on upright bass and vocals, in its inception, expressed a heavy indie folk mood. A 2018 Florida State Fiddle Champion, Gabriel was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico and was raised in Florida. His Puerto Rican upbringing provided an outsider’s approach to the genre. As time progressed, Gabriel leaned into his deep-rooted love for bluegrass music combining it with an Appalachian spirit and folk melodies, creating a truly unique Americana experience that provides a fresh perspective into where bluegrass is headed in the future.
THE KRICKETS
The Krickets are an Americana trio from the gulf coast whose music is what Paste Magazine calls "a truly stunning, one-of-a-kind sound." Two-time IMA Song of the Year winner in both Folk and Alt Country categories, the band's music is genre-bending Americana steeped in their signature folk harmony. New single “Pay No Mind” produced by Rick Hirsh (Wet Willie, Greg Allman Band) features a fresh soul-rock inspired sound for the band.
RED & CHRISTOPHER HENRY AND THEIR ALL STAR BAND
The Henry Family, originally from Gainesville, Florida, is known for their musical talents and shared passion for bluegrass music. With their vast knowledge of the bluegrass sound, The Henry family is able to write, perform, and teach bluegrass music all across the Eastern Seaboard.
WYATT ELLIS
Born in the rich music bed of East Tennessee, Wyatt Ellis has quickly become one of the most watched young musicians in bluegrass music. A devotee of Bill Monroe, Ellis has been mentored by many iconic bluegrass musicians, including Sierra Hull, Bobby Osborne, Mike Compton, and many more. Wyatt Ellis will be performing with his full band on the Main Stage and the YoungFolk Stage.
